The Journey So Far
Anish told Esha that his family was taking a trip to India over the summer, and that he wanted to take a mini European detour with her along the way.
Step 1: Convince Esha he was far too busy to plan a proposal. Anish spent weeks telling Esha how busy work had become, constantly "working late at the office" while secretly finalizing ring designs and proposal plans. Eventually, Esha started to believe he was genuinely too busy to pull off a proposal, convincing herself that this trip probably wasn't the trip.
The adventure began in Paris, the City of Love. Naturally, they visited one of the city's famous love lock bridges and added a lock of their own for good luck. Fun fact: Esha and Anish had Louvre tickets scheduled just minutes before the infamous Louvre robbery!
Next stop: Nice! The couple spent their days exploring the beautiful French Riviera. Esha was convinced this would be where the proposal happened, keeping a close eye on every scenic overlook and romantic moment.
By the time they arrived at Lake Como, Esha was completely distracted by the breathtaking gardens—and increasingly confused about why her family wasn't responding to her messages. She spent most of her time imagining how much both families would love Lake Como and already thinking about planning a return trip together someday.
On the morning of the proposal, Anish enlisted Esha's best friend, Saumya, to convince her to wear a particular dress. While Esha was excited about the private boat Anish had chartered, Anish was becoming increasingly nervous about pulling off the surprise. At this point, Esha hadn't seen a single piece of evidence that a proposal was coming—no ring box, nothing hidden in the hotel safe—so she had fully convinced herself that it wasn't happening on this trip.
Anish told Esha that he had booked a tour of Villa Monastero and that the meeting point was on a balcony overlooking the lake. Just as Esha began wondering where the tour guide was, Anish started his speech and got down on one knee.
She said yes!
After taking a moment to soak it all in, Esha's first call was to her brother, Rushil. Neither Esha nor Anish could get a hold of their brothers—which, in hindsight, made perfect sense because they were standing right behind them.
Then came the third surprise: their parents emerged as well. Emotions were high, tears were flowing, and pure happiness filled the air. It was truly the perfect way to celebrate such a special moment.
Now, we can't wait to celebrate Esha and Anish's love once again at the wedding!
